Rockland Recreation Area, mile 216.4R

This is by far the biggest and best recreation area on Old Hickory Lake. It borders the lakes Lock & Dam and Power Plant property on the right descending bank. The boat launching complex consists of 3 very good condition side-by-side ramps, with 8' x 20' tie-off docks on each side of the ramps, and parking for at least 44 vehicle/trailer rigs. From the water, the ramps are about 2 tenths of a mile off the lake at CRM 216.4.

There is an Old Hickory Lake visitors center, at least 60 picnic tables and several reservable picnic shelters for groups, parking for about 100 vehicles, several restroom facilities, a fishing pier with its own 40 parking places, a concrete sidewalk around the lake shore designed for fishermen to use, kids playground, and a good view of the large pleasure boats docked at Anchor High Marina, which is just across the slough from the boat launch area.

To reach it by land, take I65 North out of Nashville for about 7 miles(?) to the US Hwy 31 Hendersonville Bypass (Vietnam Veterans Pkwy) exit. Take this exit and stay on the bypass until you come to the Center Point Road exit (roughly 3 miles?). Turn right on Center Point Road and stay on it until it intersects with US Highway 31 (4 lanes), also known as Gallatin Road. Turn left onto Gallatin Road and go a very short distance (1/4th mile?) to reach Rockland Road. Turn right on Rockland Road and stay on it for 3/4 mile(?) before coming to the Old Hickory Lake sign. Turn to the right at the entrance road and you are there.
